How QUBYX helped Advantech create nine independent on-device calibration presets for medical displays using scaler firmware and factory multi-LUT tooling.

Industry: Medical display OEM / healthcare
Engagement type: Firmware development and factory calibration tooling

Medical display OEMs often need one physical display product to serve several clinical environments: radiology, pathology, surgery, general clinical review, and shared multi-modality rooms. Each environment can require different colour temperature, luminance, and gamma behaviour.

Advantech partnered with QUBYX to create a flexible multi-preset calibration architecture embedded directly into display hardware.

The challenge

Advantech OEM customers needed displays that could operate across multiple clinical modes without hardware changes, external software, or manual recalibration by staff.

  • Nine independent calibration presets per display
  • Different targets for colour temperature, luminance, and gamma
  • Factory-grade calibration for every preset
  • Mode switching controlled directly on the display
  • No additional host PC or external device required for end users

The QUBYX solution

9-LUT firmware for the Realtek scaler

QUBYX developed custom firmware for the Realtek scaler that extends the display native capability to support nine independent LUTs stored on-device. Each LUT defines a complete display calibration state, allowing one hardware product to behave as multiple calibrated display modes.

Factory multi-LUT calibration tool

QUBYX also developed a factory calibration tool that measures the display optical response and computes LUT data for all nine target profiles in a single production pass. This avoids the inefficiency of calibrating each mode sequentially.

Physical LUT selector

Clinical staff switch between calibrated presets through a physical roller on the display bezel. No driver, software workflow, or external measurement device is required for mode selection.

Results

  • Nine calibrated LUT presets in one display
  • Factory calibration completed in one production workflow
  • Medical-grade mode flexibility without extra hardware cost
  • Simple end-user switching for radiology, pathology, surgery, and general clinical use

This project shows how QUBYX can combine scaler firmware expertise with calibration tooling for medical OEM display manufacturers.
